Binaya Man Amatya is a Kathmandu based Audio Engineer, Producer, and Musician. He started playing the drums at the age of 14 and later picked up the bass at the age of 16 with the influence of funk music. He started operating the mixing desk at his local church in 2007 to merely fill in but lured him to the art of mixing.
In his early days he played the electric bass in church services, youth group and worship team known as ‘The Eleventh Hour Worship Team’. Then in 2011 a power trio with Dev Lama on Guitars and Bhushan Man Amatya on Drums - thereafter named ‘ZikLag’ with the addition of Chrisma Abigail on vocals in 2016.
In 2012, he decided to pursue audio engineering as a career and was soon recognized among pro audio vendors. He mixed Bipul Chettri and the Traveling Band’s debut show at Tangalwood, Kathmandu in 2014 and has been touring with them ever since. He has worked with Adrian Pradhan, The Original Duo (Adrian Pradhan & Phiroj Shyangden), Sabin Rai & the Pharaoh, Cobweb, Rohit John Chettri, Cultivation & the Himalions, The Blue Fret to name a few.
Apart from recording & mixing, he has installed sound systems for live music venues which includes Purple Haze Rock Bar, Reggae Bar, Sisha Lounge & Bar in Thamel and acoustics for Silence Studio, The Project Studio, Fuzz Factory Productions and CrossWay Studio to name a few. He has taught over 60 students and some of them now tour with Adrian Pradhan, the Edge Band, Cobweb, Sabin Rai & the Pharaoh and work with some of the best pro audio vendors and venues in Kathmandu.
